Doug Henning was truly one of magic's greatest performers.
To me, Doug's greatest feat was instilling in me a deep love for the Art of magic. As a young boy growing up, watching him perform made me believe that anything was possible. It always seemed as though he was just as amazed as his audience at the wonders that occurred as we journeyed through his "world of magic".
His simple yet elegant approach to magic proved that one doesn't need million-dollar mega-illusions and Las Vegas production values to please an audience. His focus on magic and his warm personality endeared him to his audience and, because of that, we are still talking about him today.
Moreover, although I never had the opportunity to meet Doug, I have talked with several people who have. Every one of them expressed that he was one of the nicest and most thoughtful people you would ever want to meet. He was honest and fair and always took the time to talk with people and give them a moment of personal attention, even though he was a celebrity. To me, that is just as important as his tremendous magical accomplishments.
Doug without a doubt achieved his goal of spreading awe and wonder throughout the world. He was a tremendous inspiration to magicians everywhere.
We express our sympathies and prayers to Debby and their families during this difficult time.
Doug Henning will be greatly missed, but NEVER forgotten.
