For the past 12 years Doug dedicated his life to creating a new generation of magic that would stimulate the intellect, arouse the emotions, and awaken the human spirit in people throughout the world. Doug had incorporated his new generation of magic into Maharishi Veda Land, a theme park he designed in collaboration with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and with more than 20 of the leading theme park, construction, engineering, and architectural firms. His last wish was that work continue to finance and construct this theme park and destination resort. We at Maharishi Veda Land are dedicated to bringing Doug�s dream to fulfillment.
Doug�s stellar career spanned more than two decades, and he is credited with "reviving the Second Golden Era of magic." Doug was often called the greatest magician of modern times. He created and starred in eight NBC/CBC television specials, enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people throughout the world, as well as three hit Broadway shows. His first Broadway hit, "The Magic Show," still stands as one of the top twenty Broadway musicals of all time. Doug is credited with raising the art of illusion from parlour magic to one of the world�s most popular forms of entertainment..
Doug is survived by his wife Debby, who had performed professionally with him for many years, and by two sisters. Debby provides the following quotes from Doug in the last moments of his life: "If everyone lived with a sense of wonder, their lives would be filled with joy." "I found what I was looking for when I went to study with Maharishi in 1986. My life�s quest was completely fulfilled and I am so grateful."
Doug will be deeply missed by his millions of fans, by his friends who are many of the top performing magicians in the world today as well as many other celebrities, and by all of us working on the Maharishi Veda Land project who will miss Doug�s love of life, wonderful sense of humour and enthusiasm for enlightenment, knowledge and entertainment.
